Mount Putuo (中国Pǔtuóshān普陀山) is an island, only 297 meters above sea level and is located 5km east of Zhoushan island in Zhejiang province, which derives its name from a sacred Buddhist mountain at the center of the island.  The mountain is dedicated to Guanyin, often known in English as the Goddess of Mercy or the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.

Mount Putuo(simplified Chinese: 普陀山; pinyin: Pǔtúo Shān; literally "Mount Potalaka") is an island southeast of Shanghai, in Zhoushan prefecture of Zhejiang province, China. It is famous in Chinese Buddhism, and is considered the bodhimanda of Avalokitesvara (Guan Yin), a revered Bodhisattva in many parts of East Asia. Mount Putuo is one of the four sacred mountains in Chinese Buddhism, the others being Mount Wutai, Mount Jiuhua, and Mount Emei (Bodhimandas for Manjusri, Ksitigarbha, and Samantabhadra, respectively).
The name Putuo derives from "Potalaka" the mountain residence of Guanyin in the Avatamsaka Sutra.
Mount Potalaka (traditional Chinese: 補陀落山; pinyin: Bǔtuóluòshān, Japanese: Fudaraku-sen), which means "Brilliance",[1] is the mythical dwelling of the Buddhist figure Avalokitesvara, said to exist in the seas south of India. The mountain is first mentioned in the final chapter of the Flower Garland Sutra, the Gandavyuha Sutra, where the chapter's protagonist journeys to seek the advice of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Later Buddhists, such as the Japanese Yogacara monk, Jōkei (monk) espoused aspiring rebirth on Mount Potalaka as an easier way to attain progress on the Buddhist path than the more well-known Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha.

Avalokiteśvara (Sanskrit: अवलोकितेश्वर lit. "Lord who looks down") is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. He is one of the more widely revered bodhisattvas in mainstream Mahayana Buddhism.
The original name for this bodhisattva was Avalokitasvara. The Chinese name for Avalokitasvara is Guānshìyīn Púsà (觀世音菩薩), which is a translation of the earlier name "Avalokitasvara Bodhisattva." This bodhisattva is variably depicted as male or female, and may also be referred to simply as Guānyīn in certain contexts.
In Sanskrit, Avalokitesvara is also referred to as Padmapāni ("Holder of the Lotus") or Lokeśvara ("Lord of the World"). In Tibetan, Avalokiteśvara is known as Chenrezig,

Mount Putuo is the home of Guanyin, and Guanyin is probably the single most popular name in China. Guanyin is the symbol of peace and mercy, and has become the spiritual support for many generations of Chinese believers. Over the long history, many folktales have been told about Mount Putuo and Guanyin.

Dragons spar and tigers wrestle in continual playful sport;

Nọ quỷ khóc, thần la - Ghosts cry and spirits wail,

Ultimate truth transcends words;

Khó nghĩ bàn;Not thought about or talked about,

Hãy tiến bước. you ought to advance with haste.

Repentance Verse
(in Chinese chanting)

For all the bad karma I created in the past,
Based upon beginningless greed, hatred, and ignorance,
and born of body, mouth, and mind,
I now repent and reform before the Buddhas.
 Dharma Master Heng Sure, 06-15-1995

The Four Limitless Vows (in Chinese chanting)

Living beings are limitless; I vow to cross them over.
Afflictions are inexhaustible; I vow to cut them off.
Dharma-doors are immeasurable; I vow to learn them.
The Buddha-path is unsurpassed; I vow to realize it.
 Dharma Master Heng Sure, 06-15-1995

May every living being,
Our minds as one and radiant with light,
Share the fruits of peace
With hearts of goodness, luminous and bright.
If people hear and see,
How hands and hearts can find in giving, unity,

May their minds awake,
To Great Compassion, wisdom and to joy.
May kindness find reward,
May all who sorrow leave their grief and pain;
May this boundless light,
Break the darkness of their endless night.
Because our hearts are one,
This world of pain turns into Paradise,
May all become compassionate and wise,
May all become compassionate and wise.
